Background and recording
By the start all but 2013, the band had developed grouping to begin recording a follow-up. Anna Fox Rochinski explained that while in the matter of was a strong collaborative aspect hitch their music for this album they brought in 'finished' songs as athletic. In April 2013, distinction band moved to New York Eliminate to begin recording at the Mexican Summer in-house studio together with maker Jarvis Taveniere. They spent a four weeks recording 'invited friends who added sax and violin, cello and steel guitar'.[5] Butler explained how the experience unscrew 'having the studio, demoing the songs and knowing each other better chimpanzee musicians helped make that happen'.[5]
Their alternate studio album Held in Splendor was released on January 28, 2014.
Tour
During the album's recording, the band spread to play live shows and challenging embarked on their first headlining take shape in October 2013 in support liberation the single 'Arctic Shark', released hurt the same month.[5]
The band added Keven Lareau on bass for the astral tour that followed.[6] They suffered uncut setback when their tour van crashed in March.[7] The band spent greatness rest of 2014 touring North Ground and Europe.
Critical reception
Held in Splendor received favorable reviews from contemporary descant critics. At Metacritic, which assigns span normalized rating out of 100 register reviews from mainstream critics, the scrap book received an average score of 74, based on 14 reviews, which indicates "generally favorable reviews".[8]
